Fundraising Update

A huge thank you to all our donors!

Hello everyone! We are The Project Éclat, a student-run initiative aiming to improve the lives of people with special needs! We are back to share more about our fundraising campaign for Rainbow Centre Singapore.

About our fundraising campaign

Our beneficiary is Rainbow Centre, a social service organisation that aims to create a world where people with disabilities can be empowered to thrive in inclusive communities. As of now, we are raising funds for Rainbow Centre’s new campus. To support Rainbow Centre’s Building for Community Initiative, we have set up a fundraising page! This fundraising campaign is part of Chairs for Community, an initiative by Rainbow Centre to raise funds for their third campus, which will cater to the growing need for special education programmes for children in Singapore. The campus will serve 300 students with autism, aged 7-18 years old, and will provide a conducive and holistic environment for learning and inclusion in the community with its “social town” concept. If you would like to support our cause and help improve the lives of these children, then please consider participating in our fundraising campaign!

And what better time is there to make your contribution than right now? Donations made from now to 31 March 2021 can attract dollar-for-dollar matching funding up to $250,000 from the Tote Board under its Enhanced Fund-Raising Programme. This means that for every dollar given, the Tote Board will donate the same amount of money, doubling the funds we receive. This way, you can effect twice the amount of change through your contributions. What is Chairs for Community?

According to the Rainbow Centre Chairs for Community webpage: “Chairs are powerful pieces of furniture. A humble chair can make a difference in community building and inclusion. The right chair can help us feel better, function better, even communicate better. It could even help us to belong and be included in a conversation, and in society.”

Chairs are an invitation to let us have a seat at a table, to make us feel welcomed and included. If you feel compelled to pull up a chair for others, we invite you to buy a virtual chair by donating to this worthy cause! To find out more about Rainbow Centre’s Chairs for Community campaign, and the stories behind different types of chairs, do visit www.rainbowcentre.org.sg/chairs-for-community!

Progress made so far!

Our goal is to raise $1000 through the fundraising page, and so far we have raised $470. A big thank you to everyone who donated, namely Chua Kia Ying, Vivian Ong, Mei Hui, Peng Fei Yee, Tan Huixian and the six anonymous donors!

#WhyIGave

  • Vivian Ong Soh Hwee: I donated because I wanted to do my part to help the children with disabilities

  • Peng Fei Yee: "I donated because there are many people in Singapore who are below the radar of the average Singaporean. There are many Singapore stories which would inspire us to move on with life and not to judge.”

You too can contribute to our cause and inspire others to care for those with disabilities in our community by participating in our fundraising campaign!
